Ex Makina
Ex Makina is an electronic music project founded by Lain Campbell and his wife Rebecca. The duo’s journey began in 2014 when Lain, then assistant to Hollywood composer Harry Gregson-Williams, found himself in The Queen’s Temple, a forested sanctuary in Buckingham, England, surrounded by analog synthesizers and 5.1 surround sound speakers. After long days assisting in high-profile projects, Lain and Rebecca cycled through the forest to the temple, where they channeled their creative energy into their own music. Their first EP, Anima, was written and recorded in this mystical setting and later mixed in Edinburgh, Scotland. The project reflects a fusion of cinematic textures, lush electronic soundscapes, and intimate, experimental production, a unique blend born from a life of touring, collaboration, and relentless creativity. Ex Makina’s sound is a testament to their dedication and the magical environments that shaped their music.
